On 18 February 2013, ActionAid inaugurated its Swiss headquarters in Lugano.
A direct dialogue campaign was initially disseminated by promoting ActionAid projects focusing on the issues of poverty alleviation, the right to food and women's rights.
Following a positive reception by supporters present in the Canton of Ticino, on 22 September 2014 ActionAid also launched its operation in the Canton of Zurich. A more in-depth study of the Swiss context guarantees the development of ActionAid activities in the area in a manner consistent with our approach to work, while respecting the territorial characteristics of Switzerland.
What we want to do in 2019 and 2020
Following the actions carried out in 2018, this year ActionAid wants to strengthen its presence further in Switzerland by promoting an approach based on fundamental human rights.
Thanks to the appointment of a Philanthropy and Partnership Director who will work with institutions, foundations, large donors and create partnerships within the territory of the Confederation, ActionAid plans to take another important step in its growth and in establishing roots in Switzerland. Particular attention will be paid to the issue of women's rights, which is a priority for ActionAid at international level.
