Claire

Now Lucie, my older sister, and I go to school every day.

Since ActionAid helped us put pressure on the government to allow us to build a school, we have twenty new classrooms! The new classrooms are spacious and have windows with glass. They are almost better than the headmaster’s room!, said Claire, an eleven year old girl living in Rwanda, happily.

The old school had a very low ceiling and very few windows, it was dark and I could not see what the teachers were writing on the blackboard. Now Lucie, my older sister, and I go to school every day. I was the best student this year and I want to be the best again next year, because I want to be a doctor when I grow up!

ActionAid will continue to work with parents, teachers and local authorities so that all students may study in a school environment suited to their needs.
