Fanta’s story
“You may lose your wealth, but you can never lose the knowledge you have gained.”
Fanta lives in a small village in The Gambia with her four children. She never had the chance to go to school and for years struggled to provide enough food and security for her family. When her husband fell ill, the responsibility fell entirely on her.
Thanks to agricultural training and tools provided by ActionAid, Fanta learned how to farm more effectively and sustainably. Today she produces better harvests, can sell her crops at the market and contribute steadily to her family’s livelihood.
Her independence is not only economic: within her community she has become a role model for other women.

Yes! In many Swiss cantons, donations to ActionAid can be deducted from your tax return. Each year, we will send you a donation receipt that you can use for this purpose.
We use your contribution to implement concrete actions based on the priorities defined by our local teams.
As a federation, we allocate 70% of funds to the countries and communities we support. The remaining 30% is used for awareness campaigns and organizational costs.

ActionAid Switzerland was legally established on February 18, 2013, in Lugano, with the aim of fighting poverty and social exclusion worldwide.
