In rural villages in inland Gambia, leaving one\u2019s land often seems like the only way to seek a better future. The lack of employment\u2014especially for women and young people\u2014pushes many to drop out of school, migrate, and risk their lives.<\/p>\n

But there is a place that offers a concrete alternative<\/strong>: the Dalaba Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture (CRSA) Training Centre<\/strong><\/span>, where a new opportunity is sown every day.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Established in 2018<\/strong> with the help of European funds, the Centre is managed by ActionAid<\/strong> <\/span>and has grown over time thanks to the support of organisations such as Fondazione Corti, Tavola Valdese, Fondazione Temperatio, and Fondazione D\u00e4ster Schild.<\/p>\n

Today, Dalaba is much more than an agricultural centre: it is a place where young women and men learn to cultivate the land sustainably<\/strong>, care for animals<\/strong>, and transform small skills into real entrepreneurial ventures<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Why Gambia?<\/span><\/h4>\n

Climate change is hitting the world\u2019s most vulnerable communities hard, bringing droughts, heatwaves, floods, and storms. Gambia is no exception.<\/p>\n

Irregular rainfall, rising temperatures, and long drought periods are jeopardising agriculture\u2014one of the country\u2019s main economic drivers. In a context where 67% of the population is under 25, many young people abandon rural areas<\/strong> in search of opportunities in cities<\/strong> or undertake dangerous migration routes to Europe<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

That is why we chose to intervene here.<\/strong><\/span>
\nBecause Gambia embodies many of the vulnerabilities we work on: the impact of the climate crisis, the lack of prospects for young generations, the marginalisation of women.
\nInvesting in training and sustainable agriculture means strengthening communities,<\/strong> creating concrete alternatives, and building a future where today there is uncertainty.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

What is ActionAid doing?<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Dalaba project was created to offer a real alternative to forced migration<\/strong>.
\nOur goal is to strengthen food security<\/strong> and promote agricultural vocational<\/strong> training<\/strong>, creating new sources of income<\/strong>\u2014especially for women and young people.<\/p>\n
