Not everyone benefits from the same protections and guarantees when it comes to fundamental rights. <strong>Global inequalities affect everyone, but not equally: women and girls are disproportionately impacted<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In many contexts, women face greater barriers to economic opportunities, education and participation in public life, which limits their role in decision-making processes. They are also more exposed to violence and discrimination that restrict their freedom and autonomy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Protecting women\u2019s rights is essential to reducing global inequalities and building fairer and more inclusive societies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n            \n                      <\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n        \n\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  \n\n<\/div>\n  <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n<div class=\"vidiemme-block basic-editor  \" >\n  \n  <div class=\"container-xl\">\n    <h2><span style=\"color: #ed1c24;\">Why this issue is urgent<\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Poverty<\/strong> \u2013 70% of people living in poverty worldwide are women. Women also carry out around two-thirds of all unpaid work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gender-based violence<\/strong> \u2013 1 in 3 women experiences physical or sexual violence at least once in her lifetime.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Domestic violence<\/strong> \u2013 Every day, around 137 women are killed by a partner or a family member worldwide.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Education<\/strong> \u2013 Two-thirds of the world\u2019s illiterate population are women.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Child and Forced Marriage<\/strong> \u2013 Every year, around 15 million girls are forced into marriage \u2013 that\u2019s 28 every minute.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Female Genital Mutilation<\/strong> \u2013 More than 230 million women and girls have undergone FGM. It can be physical, psychological, economic or digital and occurs in every part of the world. <strong>It is not limited to specific contexts: it cuts across countries, cultures and social groups.\u00a0<\/strong>It can occur in private life, in workplaces, in public spaces and online, and is often driven by deeply rooted gender stereotypes and inequalities.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #ed1c24;\">What we do<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We work to prevent and fight violence in all its forms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>we promote <strong>awareness-raising campaigns<\/strong> and work to challenge gender stereotypes<\/li>\n<li>we implement projects that address <strong>inequality, abuse, violence and discrimination<\/strong> that prevent women from determining their own lives<\/li>\n<li>we support shelters and anti-violence centres, providing <strong>medical, legal and psychological support to survivors<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>we support <strong>women\u2019s groups and movements<\/strong>, so that their demands can lead to concrete <strong>legal and policy changes<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n            <\/div>\n          <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n\n              <div class=\"accordion-item\">\n          <div class=\"accordion-header\">\n            <button class=\"accordion-button collapsed\" type=\"button\" data-bs-toggle=\"collapse\" data-bs-target=\"#accordion-69d5d8336a70f-1\" aria-expanded=\"true\" aria-controls=\"accordion-69d5d8336a70f-1\">\n              <h3>Poverty and Economic Empowerment<\/h3>\n            <\/button>\n          <\/div>\n          <div id=\"accordion-69d5d8336a70f-1\" class=\"accordion-collapse collapse\" data-bs-parent=\"#accordion-69d5d8336a70f\">\n            <div class=\"accordion-body\">\n              <p><strong>Economic inequalities disproportionately affect women and limit their access to opportunities independence<\/strong>.
